See, over there is the VHS tape, and cassette tape. And look there is film and a real floppy disk.

Music was a lot different back in my day.

We had 12 songs total on a cassette and they were usually all from the same artist. We’d listen to the first 6 and then we had to flip over to hear the next 6 songs. Fast forward and rewind took more than a split second and you hardly ever got it right. There was no repeat either. Plus if you listened to the tape too much, it killed itself.

For those kids who don’t know what a cassette tape is, this is one of them. It’s from the 80s before CDs, MP3s and iPods. It had about 6 songs on one side, then you flipped it over and there were 6 more songs.

It wasn’t easy to skip songs, wasn’t easy to find songs and shuffle really wasn’t something it understood.

Ahhh the good ol’ days.
